String Theory, Multiple Worlds, and the Search for Harmonious Relationships and Communities ....
What if multiple universes exist alongside our own that can’t be seen, heard, or touched because they are vibrating at different frequencies, each world a separate string on an infinitely grand instrument?
IN A BETTER WORLD: A Multiverse Musical explores what happens when mixed-race inventor Sylvain Lee ventures across alternative histories of 1920s England—Britannia Française, Sino-Albion, and Steampunk London—in search of a world where he won't be separated from his true love by race, class, and sexual inequality.
Thematically, IN A BETTER WORLD examines race, class, and gender through the prism of alternative pasts. Musically, the show is a pop-rock journey through exotic lands that contain novel restrictions that rival our own in their maddening inanity. There are always reasons to run away. What makes a person, against impossible odds, decide to stay?
IN A BETTER WORLD is for lovers of traditional musical theater, as well as those intrigued by combining the driving rock score of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the retro-futurism of H.G. Wells’s The Time Machine, and the subversive wit of Tom Stoppard.
